Chris Cooper is a building designer, project manager and hydraulics designer with over 30 years of experience in the building industry. Having obtained a Bachelor of Technology (Civil Engineering) from the University of Southern Queensland in 1995, Chris formalised his experience and skills by obtaining a Diploma of Building Design and Technology from the Southbank Institute of Technology in 2006, and an Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction Management from Transformed in 2015.
Chris is fully licenced, holding QBCC Licenses in Building Design (Open), Project Management Services, and as Hydraulic Designer. Chris is also accredited by the Victorian Building Authority for Architectural, and Hydraulic Services.
Throughout his career, Chris has held several senior positions in the building design profession, including the establishment of Angle Design and Project Management in June 2021.
Previously Chris worked as the Principal Designer/Director at i3 Consulting Pty Ltd from 2005, until February 2021. Other roles include working as the Senior Draftsman at Spaceframe Buildings, and as a draftsman at Larkin Teys Consulting / McVeigh Consultants.
In addition to his professional work, Chris Cooper volunteered as a Delegate of the Brisbane Chapter of the Building Designers Association of Australia and played basketball and tennis at a high level.
Chris has trained and mentored many colleagues throughout his working career and this giving back has been a very rewarding component of his career.
As a building designer, Chris Cooper has been awarded several awards, including the Hitachi Construction Machinery branches in Forrestdale and Brisbane, and the Aus Organics Mill and Coldstore. Chris Cooper’s work covers a wide range of industries, including agriculture, defence, large industrial, residential, showrooms, transport, and warehouses.
To advance his exposure to large industrial buildings and broaden his skillset, Chris Cooper completed 2 years of work in China interfacing with many international companies which allowed him to realise the expertise he had achieved.
Chris’ project management commenced after completing various building and subdivision designs by assisting in inspections, and assessment of completed work based on designs he had completed. Over the years of delivering projects, Chris Cooper has been exposed to various scenarios in project management which now allows him to maintain perspective and provide the right advice when required to deliver projects successfully.
From 2004-2021, Chris took on part ownership and as a director of a consulting engineering, design, planning, environmental and project management firm to grow the organisation from 3 to 55 staff. This experience provided Chris with a multitude of varied experiences and responsibilities that provided large leaps of capability in business.
All these years of experience across various skill sets and project types produced someone with versatility and experience that it understands the commitment required to start and finish a building.
